Familiar things – houses around the neighbourhood, flowers that friends have brought when they visit, the agapanthus from the holiday house in Merimbula, Mrs. Taylor’s tea pot, the old neighbour who used to live across the road, the old veranda, the local fish and chips shop, the old buildings that used to be but nowadays are gone, removed to make place for modern units and the familiar views along the river are the images presented in this exhibition. These familiar places and objects I have recreated and placed in an aesthetic dimension. I love to create this reality, using colour and patterns and I feel that colour reduction lino cut is, for this particular stage of my practice, the ideal medium to express the ideas and feelings about these familiar things that are important to me.
